Yesterday, the children in Years 5 and 6 became S.O.C.Os (Scene of Crime Officers) and were put into different groups to find out who committed a crime. Each group got a skeleton and had to find out what the victim’s name was, why they died and who killed them. Every skeleton had evidence that helped them figure most of what happened to them. Before they did that, they did some activities in the classroom. These included:
- Identifying a pen used to write a letter in a bank robbery.
- Taking fingerprints and ‘lifting’ prints from a jar using aluminium powder.
The children really enjoyed the day and found it interesting.
Year 2 had a visit from the Fire Service. Some of the children dressed up in clothes and equipment used by Firemen. They also learnt what to do if they find themselves in a smoke filled room – stop, drop and roll!
