October 08 : In October our girls netball team played their first match, and drew 5 - 5 with Topsham Primary School - well done ! In October we supported the Children's Hospice South West during our Harvest Week. We collected £188.13 for the charity in our Harvest Jar.

September 08 : In September, we welcomed Miss Bennet and Mr. Evely to the teaching staff. We also welcomed Mrs. Lamacraft as our new School Librarian. We hope they have fun here ! In September, we ordered some new books for the library. These were with the money we were given for our School Book Fair last year. They are great !

August 08 : In August, when we were on holiday, our playground area was finished off with benches and plants.

July 08 : In July we had our Open Day. We enjoyed showing our work to our parents. We also had our Summer Fayre (in the rain!) and raised around £800 for school projects. In July during History Week we opened our Year 2000 'Time Trunk'. Mrs. Haidar and Danielle Geake, who were at school then, came back to help. In July our Ofsted Report said we were a 'good school'! Mrs. Alldis and Mrs. Clatworthy left us with bouquets !! In July we said 'Goodbye' to our first Year 6 children, and 'Goodbye' to Miss Coysh - all off to new schools !

June '08 : In June, Year 5 went on a residential week to The Wembworthy Centre. They did archery, orienteering, shelter buiulding, and went on a night walk. It was great fun.

May '08 : In May our new playground markings were put down. We have sports markings in the small playground, and fun markings in the large playground. They are very bright and made of thermoplastic, which means they wont wear away quickly. We are going to enjoy playing games on them.

April '08 : In April Hannah from the ICE Team (Initiative in Christian Education) presented us with over £300 worth of books and DVDs from the Hamilton Trust. They are in our library in the Religious Education section. Why not have a look, there are some interesting titles to choose from.

March '08 : In March we had a successful PE Week, and we also had a Tae Kwondo demonstration. The PTA organised a fun 'Quiz Night' and the Easter Bunny came for a visit.

February '08: In February we showed our work to our mums and dads. Our new playground area was finished and the whole playground was tarmaced.

January '08: In January work began on extending our playground area for more outdoor activities. St. Thomas CAPs also started work on our new sensory/eco garden and rest area.

December '07: - In December we were very busy with Christmas activities. Foundation and Key Stage 1 performed a 'Wriggly Nativity' to parents, carers, family and friends, raising £137.10 for CLIC. Key Stage 2 children held a 'Carols and Poems' service in the local church, donating collection money to the Neo Natal Unit and Bramble Ward at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. We also said 'goodbye' to Miss Driver who left us to work in another school.

November '07: - In November a group of Year 6 children passed the Exeter Bikeability Level 2 training, and the area outside the Year 6 classroom was developed ready for cycling to school in the new year. Global Action came to school and worked with Miss Gilbey and Year 5 on a waste audit. This helped us discover which materials we could be recycling better. We also dressed up for 'Children In Need' day and raised £167.67 for the charity.

October '07: In October we were presented with our 'Healthy Schools' plaque by Mr. Poppleton during our Harvest Week. We raised £124.68 towards spronsoring Damiana Felipe through the charity World Vision. A theatre group came to school and we watched a performance of 'Oliver Twist'.

September '07: In September we welcomed Miss Coysh, Miss Shabytah, Miss Driver and Mrs. Winnall to the teaching staff, and sixteen new children into our Reception class. We had a great visit from the Donkey Sanctuary near Sidmouth, learning about how to groom, walk and care for donkeys.

August '07 : In August Mr. Geale our caretaker made sure the school was cleaned from top to bottom ! He also helped get our first Year 6 classroom ready for September.

July '07: In July we had our Open Day, when we shared our work with our families. The PTA also organised a successful 'Summer Fayre' on the only sunny Saturday for weeks - well done ! Year 5 went on the school's first every residential visit to the Wembworthy Centre, and we said 'Goodbye' to Mr. Edwards who left us - good luck in the future Mr. E!

June ’07: In June we took a mixed tag-rugby team to a tournament at the new Exeter Chiefs stadium. We also received prizes from Sainsbury’s for our work in their local Art Competition. In June we had our ‘Music Week’. There were many different activities at school, including visits from ‘Drum Crazy’ and from Gloria’s and Roger’s ‘Storytree’. It was great fun !

May ’07: In May we found out about the work of the Devon Air Ambulance. We collected 60 sacks full of bric-a-brac, toys, books and other items for reselling (called Helibags) to support their work.

April ’07: In April a group of Year 4 and Year 5 children went to Twickenham Rugby Ground to watch the University finals. Everyone had a really good time. Thanks Mr. Edwards for organising the trip!

March ’07: In March we raised £125 on Red Nose Day for Comic Relief, by wearing a different accessory. We also had a successful Open Afternoon when our parents came to look at our work.

February 07: In February we said 'Goodbye' to Kieran and Kennedy, who are going to live in Australia. We also took part in the PTA's 'Alphabet Hunt' raising money for school.

January 07: In January we wished everyone a 'Happy 2007'! New children started in Miss Lodge's class, and new School Council members were elected to represent each year group in the school.

December 06: Our very successful PTA 'Christmas Fayre' raised £750 for school equipment. Our Christmas Key Stage 2 Carol Concert and Key Stage 1 play 'It's A Baby' raised a total of £250 for NCH Action For Children and World Vision. Our newly formed girls netball team had a great first match against a local school, winning 4 - 0. Thanks to Miss Penhaligon, Miss Lodge and Mrs. Collings for coaching them so well!

November 06: In November our boys football teams played their first competitative matches against other local schools. Everyone represented the school really well, and played their best. The team coach, Mr. Edwards, was very pleased with the results, and is planning more matches for the future.The school was also awarded the 'Devon Healthy Schools Award' in recognition of the work undertaken in personal, social and health education.

October 06: In October we collected £149.63 during our Harvest Week for 'NCH For Children'. We also sent some colourful tights and a card to Damiana in Bolivia for Christmas.

September 06: In September Miss Gilbey and Mr. Edwards came to teach at our school. We also said 'Hello' to the new children who started school in Miss Lodge's class.

August 06: Our St. Thomas Community Action Partnership (CAPs) group provided us with a new trim trail, thanks to all their hard work in securing a £5,000 grant from 'Awards For All'. This is a great addition to the school, and we are all looking forward to using it in the new academic year.

July 06: Parents enjoyed being shown round the school by their children during our successful 'Open Day'. It was great to see so many people supporting their children. Also we said 'goodbye' to one of our teachers, Mrs. Susie Penberthy, who is taking early retirement. She has taught at the school since 1994 and we will all miss her.

June 06: Our PSHE Week was great fun. We worked together on different school and class projects, one being to design and paint the new art boards for the stairwell. They look fantastic ! Also in June some of our Year 3 children created and painted a new design for our hall art boards, when they were on the Beaford Arts Residential Week.

May 06: The school was awarded 'The Football Association Charter Standard For Schools'. Our girls football team also took part in a local tournament, and represented the school brilliantly - well done !

April 06: We had a very happy and successful 'Open Afternoon with Tea and Buns'. Mums, Dads and Carers were invited into the School, and children showed them their work and displays around the school. There was also a chance to go into the hall and enjoy a drink and a homemade cake. We must like cakes a lot, because the PTA raised £203 selling them !!

March 06: Volunteers with our St. Thomas Community Action Partnerships group, (St. Thomas Caps), started to clear an area ready for a new trim trail. We are really pleased this will be in place for the summer. We wished Damiana Felipe a happy eighth birthday. Damiana Lives in Bolivia, and we sponsor her through the charity 'World Vision'.

February 06: Our PTA organised a sponsored 'Fill A Film Pot' event. Everyone had to see how many things they could get into a film pot. Some children managed to squeeze over seventy things into a tiny pot. - WOW! This was a sponsored event, which raised just over £500. This money has purchased a new Music Centre for the hall, and individual cd players for all our classrooms.

January 06: Happy New Year! We welcomed new children into our Reception class.

December 05: Our Christmas Presentation this year was 'The Good Little Christmas Tree'. Everyone had fun taking part, and we raised £158.00 for the children’s Hospice South West.

November 05: Mr. Ben Bradshaw. Exeter's MP, presented fluorescent safety jackets to all the children, following a very successful project organised by St. Thomas Community Action Partnerships (St. Thomas CAPS), which is based at the school. Thank-you to all local businesses, which took part.

October 05: Another Successful 'Harvest Week', raising £94.80 for 'World Vision'. The PTA organised a successful 'Tea and Bun' afternoon.

September 05: Our French Assistant started working with us every Thursday, and we are really looking forward to learning French in school. All Children took part in the 'Safe and Smiling Show', which looked at road safety with Professor Martyn.
